Hastee: A New Financial Wellness App for Ireland and UK PayPal Employees
Here’s our Frequently Asked Questions to assist you further, however if we’ve missed something you want to know, please get in touch below or contact us here.
How does Hastee work?
With Hastee, you can withdraw part of the amount you’ve earned to date but haven’t been paid yet, on demand, when you need it. The remaining balance will be paid as part of your monthly pay period and details of your Hastee withdrawals will be included on your paycheques.
As a financial wellness platform, Hastee also offers personalized financial wellbeing resources through video, audio, podcast and written content on a range of subjects – from borrowing and insurance, to investing and saving, specific to your needs and delivered via the Hastee app, email or WhatsApp, so you can better understand and manage your finances.
How much does it cost?
There is no cost to you, and no interest deducted on what you withdraw. By partnering with Hastee and offering the app as a free financial wellness benefit, PayPal is enabling you to access up to 30% total of the amount you’ve earned, and deposit these funds back into your bank account before payday at no cost, up to four times per pay period.
While there is no cost to use the Hastee service, it is important to consider that use will reduce the amount of your salary that will be paid as part of your monthly pay period. We encourage you to carefully consider how this may impact your other financial obligations before making a withdrawal.
How much of the amount I've earned to date can I withdraw?
You can withdraw up to 30% total of the amount you’ve earned to date, at no cost, up to four times per pay period.
Is this a loan?
No, it is not a loan. Hastee gives you access to the amount you have earned in your current pay period, but haven’t been paid yet. It will, however, reduce the amount of your salary that will be paid as part of your monthly pay period. We encourage you to carefully consider how this may impact your other financial obligations before making a withdrawal.
Will this affect my credit ratings?
No. We do not credit check any of our users as this is not a loan. While using Hastee has no impact on your credit score, it will appear on your paycheques and will be visible within the transaction details of the bank that withdrawals are paid into. This can be considered by lenders and other providers of financial services.
How do I get access to part of the amount I've earned but haven't been paid yet?
How do I get access to part of the amount I’ve earned but haven’t been paid yet?
Download the Hastee app from the Hub on your PayPal phone, or the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store on your personal phone, and enter the unique invitation code you received via email from the Hastee email address firstname.lastname@example.org. For step-by-step guidance on how to start using the app, watch this 5-minute video. You will normally see a balance 24 hours after your first validated shift or workday.
My invitation code has expired. What do I do?
Your invitation code is unique to you and expires after two weeks of receipt. If you tried to log in to the Hastee app for the first time, but when you enter your invitation code, you’re informed it has expired, please request a new code by visiting https://invitation.hasteepayweb.com/ and filling out the form. Your “Employee ID” is an 8-digit number that can be found on your Bridge profile.

When can I withdraw the amount I've earned but haven't been paid yet?
Generally, you will be able to withdraw as soon as your work is complete (and approved if additional approval is required) until a cut-off point before payroll is processed. At the cut-off point, your balance will change to zero. Hastee will send you notifications to let you know when the cut-off point is approaching.
Why is the available balance shown less than I have earned?
Your available balance is calculated as a maximum of your base pay, minus the amount you have already withdrawn during the pay period. The actual amount available to withdraw is never more than 30% of your base pay to date.
Why has my balance changed to zero?
Your balance will change to zero at the cut-off point before PayPal processes payroll. Please see the ‘When will my balance appear?’ in the Hastee app for more information.
How fast will I receive the earned amount I withdraw?
In the UK, Hastee utilizes the UK banks’ Faster Payments Service, which means the amount you’ve withdrawn will usually reach your account within two hours. In Ireland, Hastee uses the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) credit transfer scheme, which means the amount you’ve withdrawn will reach your account within 48 hours.
Can I withdraw more than once during a pay period?
You can withdraw up to 30% of the amount you’ve earned to date, at no cost, up to four times per pay period.
How will the earned amount I withdraw show up on my paycheque?
On your monthly paycheque, it will show as “Hastee Withdrawal.” Once a year, Payroll will process a fee for tax purposes, which will be covered by PayPal and not withdrawn from the amount you earned. This will show on your paycheque as “Hastee BIK.”
How will my payroll be taxed if I withdraw early?
There is no impact on your taxes. Full monthly income will be taxed through PayPal’s payroll and the amount of the withdrawal will be deducted from your net income.
How secure is my data?
We use bank-level encryption to secure your data. PayPal’s Payroll team partnered closely with our Information Security team to ensure PayPal data privacy standards are maintained throughout the Hastee system and process.
How private is my data?
We limited disclosure of personally identifiable information until an employee signs up to use Hastee. No other information is provided to Hastee unless an employee downloads Hastee and signs up as a user.
If you sign up for Hastee, a minimum set of data is required to facilitate the Hastee service.
Is Hastee available to all PayPal employees globally?
Hastee is available now to UK and Ireland employees, and is being provided as a benefit free of charge. A similar benefit is also available to U.S. employees. We know that this initiative is important for all our employees and we are evaluating this program for a broader implementation globally.
